About this qualification
This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to manage and lead others in adult health and social care provision in Northern Ireland.
This qualifications is formed of mandatory and optional units.
The mandatory units covers a wide range of topics including:
• safeguarding and protection
• partnership working
• professional development
• providing a supportive environment for individuals to achieve positive outcomes
• complying with quality systems and continuously improving quality
• carrying out policy
• promoting and developing best practice

• assessing the individual in group living (Adult Residential Management pathway only).
Who is it suitable for?
The Adult Residential Management pathway is aimed at those in similar roles to those taking the Adult Management pathway, but the focus is on management and care in residential settings, and for managers who are looking to progress their career in this setting. It is also appropriate for managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at this level.
What are the entry requirements?
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 19 or above to undertake this qualification.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
Learners will need to be working in the role of a manager in an appropriate setting, or have the opportunity to carry out responsibilities associated with this role.
Progression?
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress onto a variety of management roles in adult care or into further or higher education in Northern Ireland.
